Flame Diet review: what $39.99 a month actually buys you

Flame Diet is the anti-inflammatory app you have probably seen in an Instagram or TikTok ad: a woman on a beanbag, a quiz, a promise to "reduce inflammation, lose weight". The ads are everywhere and the reviews are almost nowhere, so we went through the App Store listing, the subscription terms and the website, priced out every add-on, and compared it with what you can get for free.

Short version: it is a decent meal plan and workout program sold at a premium price, with a food scanner-shaped hole in the middle. Here is the full breakdown, the real prices, and who it makes sense for.

Reviewed September 11, 2026. Prices, ratings and features are taken from the App Store listing and flame.diet on that date. Flammy is our own app, so read the comparison with that in mind; the facts about Flame Diet are checkable in their listing.

What Flame Diet actually is

It is a quiz funnel. You answer questions about your weight, goals, food preferences and habits, the app generates a personalized meal plan, and from there it works like most subscription diet programs: a week of recipes, a shopping list, a library of low-impact workouts, daily trackers for steps, water, weight and fasting, and "challenges" that push small habits.

The anti-inflammatory part is the recipe selection: meals built around fish, vegetables, olive oil, whole grains and berries, the standard Mediterranean-style pattern. That is a reasonable way to eat. It is also the same pattern every weight loss app has shipped for a decade, relabeled for the anti-inflammatory search trend.

The company behind it is Nordway Digital, UAB, a Lithuanian company. The app is recent: the listing shows updates from June to September 2026, it is rated 18+, and it had 8 ratings on the App Store when we checked. It is actively maintained.

Flame Diet pricing: the full list, not the ad

The ads quote "$2.79 a week". That number only exists if you pay $66.99 up front for six months. Here is every price in the App Store listing.

ItemPrice (USD)Note
1-month plan$39.99Auto-renews. $479.88 if you keep it a year.
6-month plan$66.99The one their marketing quotes as "$2.79 a week". $133.98 a year.
Coach, 1 month$39.99Separate purchase on top of the subscription.
Weight Loss Bundle$39.99One-time add-on.
Anti-Inflammatory Meal Plan$19.99Sold separately, inside an app whose whole pitch is the anti-inflammatory diet.
Fasting Made Easy$19.99One-time add-on.
30-Day Cortisol Detox Challenge$17.99One-time add-on.
The Ultimate Menopause Diet Plan$14.99One-time add-on.
Menstrual Cycle-Based Diet Plan$11.99One-time add-on.

Two things stand out. First, $39.99 a month puts Flame Diet above MyFitnessPal Premium and WeightWatchers, apps with years of track record and millions of ratings, and level with Noom's monthly price. Second, the "Anti-Inflammatory Meal Plan" is a $19.99 add-on. Inside an app whose entire pitch is the anti-inflammatory diet.

Their subscription terms also say the current period cannot be cancelled once it starts. You can stop the renewal, but the month you are in is paid in full. Read the cancellation section below before you subscribe.

What Flame Diet does well

The recipes are quick and use normal ingredients

Their own FAQ says 10 to 15 minutes per meal and nothing you cannot buy at a regular supermarket. The App Store screenshots back that up: salmon with roasted vegetables, falafel bowls, yogurt parfaits. Nothing exotic.

The shopping list reuses ingredients across meals

This is the most useful feature in the app. The list is built so one bag of spinach or one pack of chicken covers several meals in the week, which cuts both waste and cost. Most meal plan apps skip this.

It is more than food

Low-impact guided workouts, step, water, weight and fasting trackers, and 'challenges' to keep you consistent. If you want one app that nags you about everything, that is the product.

The developer answers reviews

Small thing, but the App Store reviews get replies from the team. It is a real company with a support address, not an abandoned template app.

Where it falls short

It is a weight loss app wearing an anti-inflammatory label

The landing page headline is 'Manage Your Weight With Anti-Inflammatory Diet'. The App Store screenshot says 'Reduce Inflammation, Lose Weight' and 'burn fat faster'. If you are here because of joint pain, gut issues or a doctor telling you to lower inflammation, the plan is built around a calorie target first and inflammation second.

There is no food scanner and no food database you can browse

You get the meals in your plan. You cannot point the camera at a menu, a snack or a supermarket product and ask whether it is inflammatory. For an anti-inflammatory diet, that is the question you have ten times a day, and the app has no answer for it.

The price is high and the add-ons keep coming

$39.99 a month is double what MyFitnessPal Premium or WeightWatchers charge, and in Noom territory. On top of that, the anti-inflammatory meal plan itself is a $19.99 extra, and there are six more one-time purchases between $11.99 and $39.99. A 'coach' is another $39.99 a month.

Very few people have rated it

8 ratings on the App Store and 100+ downloads on Google Play as of this review. The 4.4 stars are fine, but the sample is tiny for an app that calls itself '#1'. The testimonials on the website use first names and last initials only, so you cannot verify any of them.

The free tier is a quiz

You download the app, answer the questionnaire, see 'preliminary results', and hit the paywall. There is nothing to use before paying. Their subscription terms also state that you cannot cancel the current period once it starts, so a wrong click costs a full month.

Verdict: who should pay for Flame Diet

Pay for it if you want a done-for-you program: a plan that tells you exactly what to cook, a list that tells you exactly what to buy, and workouts and trackers in the same place. You are buying structure and you know it costs about $40 a month, or $67 for six months if you commit.

Skip it if your goal is inflammation rather than weight, if you want to check foods you did not plan (restaurants, snacks, groceries), or if $480 a year is more than you would spend on a diet app. In that case a free food scanner plus any of the free anti-inflammatory meal plans on this site covers the same ground.

Either way, do not decide from the ad. Download it, take the quiz, and stop at the paywall until you have read the price screen. The 6-month plan is the only one that makes the per-week number in the ads true.

How to cancel Flame Diet

On iPhone

On Android

Cancelling does not refund the current period. Request the refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com or from Google Play's order history, not from the app.

Flame Diet: common questions

Is Flame Diet free?

No. The download and the quiz are free, and you can see a preview of your results. Using the meal plan, recipes, workouts or trackers requires a subscription: $39.99 per month or $66.99 per 6 months as of September 2026.

How much does Flame Diet cost per month?

$39.99 for the monthly plan. The 6-month plan is $66.99, which works out to about $11.17 a month. Add-on plans (menopause, fasting, cortisol detox, an anti-inflammatory meal plan) cost $11.99 to $39.99 each, and a coach is another $39.99 a month.

Is Flame Diet legit?

It is a real app from a real company, Nordway Digital, UAB, based in Lithuania, and it is listed on both the App Store and Google Play with a working support address. Legit is not the same as good value: the app has 8 ratings on the App Store and charges more per month than most established diet apps.

Does Flame Diet have a food scanner?

No. Flame Diet gives you a fixed meal plan, recipes and a shopping list. It has no camera scanner and no database to look up foods outside your plan. If you want to check whether a specific food is inflammatory, Flammy does that for free.

What is the difference between Flame Diet and Flammy?

Flame Diet is a paid weight loss program: a quiz builds a meal plan, and you follow it with workouts and trackers. Flammy is a free anti-inflammatory food tool: scan or search any food to get its inflammation score, browse 110+ ranked foods and recipes, and use meal plans by condition. Flame Diet tells you what to eat; Flammy tells you what any food does.

How do I cancel Flame Diet?

Through your phone, not the app. iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Flame Diet, Cancel. Android: Google Play, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. The current period is not refunded by cancelling; ask Apple or Google for a refund if the charge was a mistake.

Is the Flame Diet app the same as Flammy?

No. They are different apps from different companies. Flame Diet is made by Nordway Digital in Lithuania and costs $39.99 a month. Flammy is made by an independent developer and is free to download, with an optional $34.99-a-year premium. The similar names cause the confusion.
